Description: An old farmhouse was completely renovated, converted into a detached house and, in keeping with the building, was to be heated with renewable energy. As the client has a special relationship with wood through his profession, it was soon clear that only a combined log/pellet system would do. A large 2,500-litre buffer tank and a pellet bag silo in the former barn, with a pellet suction line laid underground, ensure the building is heated constantly even when the occupants are away. The house is heated partly by newly laid underfloor heating and partly by modern-looking radiators that contrast with the painstakingly exposed rubble-stone walls, lit by floor spots in the living room.

The electrical installation was also renewed and brought up to the current state of the art. Recessed ceiling spots in the new suspended ceilings dominate the lighting. The rooms are equipped with CAT 7 network sockets and plenty of power outlets in an attractive switch range matching the interior design.

The recessed stair lights on the stairs to the first floor were installed to match the elaborately made oak steps with metal railing. For the railing, the balusters of the old railing were reused and incorporated.

The tiling in the bathroom and the two guest WCs was adapted to the vintage look combined with modern fittings. To match, wood-effect tiles were laid on the WC floors, in harmony with the modern sanitary ware and chrome taps.
